In 1996 CDFreedom.com began serving the needs of a new breed of small business owners: independent artists.  By making it easy for the artist to sell their music directly to their fans, major label music industry began systematically buying up "indies" and essentially shutting down the development of new artists.  We've become home to many exciting new and legacy artists, and fans have come to rely on the quality of music they'll find here.

We've grown quite organically on just two things: supporting artists and serving fans.  There have been many competitors who've replicated our system, but none that truly strive to serve the working artist the way we do.  Our average commission is $2.50! This is one of the lowest in the country.  We make sure the artist gets as much money as possible so they can go on creating and making a living from their art.  We are one of the few online music stores that bring you ALL the artist's products including, CDs, DVDs, MP3s, t-shirts, tickets, posters and other merch.

There are no customer accounts at CDFreedom and no minimum order.  We do not keep any customer credit card numbers on file, and we do not sell customer lists.  The only person who sees your information is our shipping department and the artists you purchased products from.

In 2005 the original developers of CDFreedom, Artist Development Associates, merged with Trilby Systems to form nimbit inc. Founders of both companies are on board pushing the limits of providing complete career control for independent artists.  CDFreedom is part of the "nimbit retail" program, one of nimbit's many solutions for an artist to manage their growing business.
